What we make
Light, crisp, and refreshing session meads
First, what is mead?
Mead is a fermented beverage made from honey, water, and yeast. It's one of the world’s oldest alcoholic beverages, and it can take many forms: still or carbonated, dry or sweet, delicate or rich, simple or layered with fruit, spices, and botanicals. It’s naturally gluten-free since there’s no grain or malt involved, just honey transformed through fermentation.
Because honey carries the character of the flowers and landscapes around it, mead often has a strong sense of place. Different honeys can create different aromas, textures, and flavors, which is part of what makes the category so interesting.
What is session mead?
A lighter take on traditional mead, crafted for a more 'crushable' feel: lower alcohol content (ABV), gently carbonated, and served cold. Session mead typically contains around 4% to 7% ABV, closer in strength to beer or cider than wine. At Tineo, our focus is around 5% ABV with a clean finish and enough honey character to remind you what it’s made from.
What does it taste like?
Session mead is easiest to understand through familiar reference points. Tineo’s session mead is closer to a draft beverage than a sparkling wine. The honey is the foundation, but not too sweet. The finish stays bright, balanced, and refreshing. Think: a low alcohol beer meets a crisp cider meets a bright kombucha, plus unique aromatics from the honey.
If you’re a honey-lover, looking for a gluten-free option, or simply want something fresh and new, a session mead might be your next favorite pour.
Why Tineo makes session mead
The goal is drinkability. We’re crafting a natural, gluten-free beverage that's easy to enjoy at home or your local watering hole, paired with food or on its own, at the beach or on the slopes. You get the idea: drink Tineo anytime, anywhere.
The idea for Tineo was shaped by time spent in southern Chile, where the honey is delicious, the craftsmanship is excellent, and small producers care deeply about doing things well. That resonated with us. We carry that inspiration into our session meads, made in Sonoma County with balance, precision, and care.
